  A Gamified Final Assessment: Earn the Digital "Compostelana" To make the final student evaluation more engaging and motivating, I created a Genially breakout activity that transforms assessment into an interactive challenge. Throughout the breakout, students solve a series of questions and puzzles that test the knowledge and skills they have acquired during the learning process. If they successfully answer all the questions and complete the challenge, they are rewarded with a digital "Compostelana" —a certificate inspired by the traditional document awarded to pilgrims who complete the Camino de Santiago. This digital badge serves as a meaningful recognition of their achievement and celebrates the successful completion of their learning journey.   The Way of Saint James Mosaic Project: A Journey in Tesserae Since January 2026, every Tuesday from 13:25 to 14:20, the 4th ESO students at IES la Serna have been engaged in a remarkable artistic endeavor as part of the eTwinning project "The Way of Saint James: A European Journey of self-discovery." The students are creating a monumental mosaic that represents the union of European cultures along the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela. Step 1: The Foundation The first step in this ambitious project was acquiring the base for the artwork: a substantial wooden board measuring 220cm wide by 120cm high.   International Collaboration in Guild 4: Creativity, Design and Teamwork Across Europe One of the most enriching experiences of our eTwinning project has been the international collaboration established within Guild 4, where junior and senior students from different countries worked together to create digital resources for our interactive Way of St. James project. From the very beginning, students were provided with clear guidelines and netiquette instructions to ensure respectful, effective and productive communication in the forum. To encourage meaningful collaboration, participants were paired in international teams consisting of one junior student and one senior student.  Summary of the eTwinning project “On the Roads of Saint James of Compostela” The eTwinning project “On the Roads of Saint James of Compostela” brought together schools from France, Spain, Italy, Romania and Turkey, as well as German partners during videoconferences, around a common theme: discovering Europe’s cultural heritage through the routes of Saint James of Compostela. This project was carried out in partnership with the Canopé network, which supported this European cooperation initiative. Throughout the project, students discovered the history, traditions, landscapes, monuments and cultural specificities of the different partner countries. The exchanges, made possible through digital tools and regular videoconferences, fostered cooperation, the sharing of experiences and openness to other cultures.   Guild 11 Work Report Guild 11 has collaboratively developed a wide range of activities and resources aimed at enriching the project and encouraging the active participation of students while promoting competency-based learning and teamwork. First, the team created its own avatars in the three project languages: English, German and French . These avatars will be used to interact with students through the project's forum, fostering communication, encouraging the use of foreign languages in authentic contexts, and supporting students throughout the different stages of the Camino.   Summary of Guild 3 – Chroniclers: Giving a Voice to the Stories of the Camino Guild 3 – Chroniclers is one of the collaborative groups taking part in the project "The Way of Saint James: A European Journey of Self-Discovery." Its main goal is to collect and share the personal stories of people walking the Camino de Santiago. While other guilds focus on subjects such as mapping, sustainability, health, landscapes, or cultural heritage, the Chroniclers explore the human side of the pilgrimage. Through interviews, reflections, profiles, and creative writing, students discover the emotions, motivations, and experiences that make every pilgrim's journey unique.   Guild 8: Building East–West Bridges Through Shared Pilgrimage Experiences Guild 8, dedicated to the theme “Building East–West Bridges,” explored the common elements that unite pilgrimage traditions across different cultures and religions. During the group discussions, participants reflected on the pilgrimage experience and confirmed that, despite the diversity of destinations and faith traditions, pilgrimages share remarkable similarities. Whether the journey leads to Santiago de Compostela, Jerusalem, or Mecca, pilgrims undergo comparable stages of preparation, experience similar emotions along the way, and follow a journey that unfolds in much the same manner.
